"The Originals" Season 4 has finally received its official premiere date. Additionally, rumors surrounding the highly anticipated series suggest that a favorite character from "The Vampire Diaries" will survive and crossover to "The Originals." The news reportedly came from "The Vampire Diaries" showrunner Julie Plec herself.

"The Originals" Season 4 is set to premiere on March 17, 2017, at 8 p.m ET/PT, DreadCentral reported. The show will return a week after "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 wraps up. "The Vampire Diaries" season finale is slated to air on March 10, 2017.

Now that The CW has officially announced when "The Originals" will return, fans are reportedly more excited especially after the teaser given by Plec. If it is to be considered that one surviving character from "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will jump to "The Originals," there is a possibility that it is Candice Accola who plays as Caroline Forbes.

It can be recalled that rumors about Klaroline love affair have surfaced online in the past months even before "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 premiered. A report from Parent Herald claimed that it could be possible for Caroline to cross over to "The Originals" to revive Joseph Morgan's character Klaus Mikaelson from his weakening state.

However, the current season of "The Vampire Diaries" just saw Caroline being engaged. This apparently debunked rumors of a Caroline Klaus reunion on "The Originals" Season 4. But the situation can still change on "The Vampire Diaries" especially if Nina Dobrev returns as Elena Gilbert, the former girlfriend of Caroline's fiance.

"The Originals" Season 4, additionally, will return with a decreased episode number. The new season is said to be comprised of only 13 episodes that's why rumors of its cancellation also made the headlines in the past month. However, fans are advised not to worry for now as The CW and producers of the show have not announced any intent to cancel the show yet.
