Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ Movie Updates: No Backup Plan For Star-Lord’s Father, Ego; Acquired Through Swap Between 20th Century Fox, Marvel?

When James Gunn, the director of "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" movie, decided that Star-Lord's father was Ego the Living Planet, he didn't know that problems lay ahead. First off, Ego the Living Planet was the property of 20th Century Fox. Second, he didn't have a backup plan.

Good for him, 20th Century Fox went to Marvel and wanted to trade properties. 20th Century Fox was keen on producing "Deadpool" and needed some other properties to complete the cast. Yahoo! reports that in the swap that took place between 20th Century Fox and Marvel, Negasonic Teenage Warhead went to 20th Century Fox, while Marvel got Ego, of course.

That was the point when the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" movie storyline got completed. 20th Century Fox chose Negasonic mainly for the name.

In the comics, Negasonic Teenage Warhead is a mutant with psychic powers. However, in "Deadpool," 20th Century Fox studio changed her power to explosive blasts. For this, they had to have the permission of Marvel. It was at then that they approached Marvel about swapping powers and trading characters.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" movie had cast Kurt Russell as Ego, who is not a stranger to space portals and science fantasy. The star of "Escape from LA" and "Stargate" will however not look like a planet, but will be in human form.

Cinema Blend reports that other stars in the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" movie include Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone, Benecio del Toro, and Elizabeth Debicki. The "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" movie cast is impressive.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" movie is moving ahead. At present, there are some scenes that are being reshot. As an aside, people are eager to get Groot back.

In the "Guardians of the Galaxy" 2 movie, Groot will be more goofy, according to ScreenRant.com. Groot remains as Baby Groot for the sequel. In the original movie, Groot sacrificed himself to save the other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
