‘Moana’ Starring Dwayne Johnson: Disney's Title Alteration For Italy, Find Out Why!

"Moana", Disney's highly anticipated animated film with its iconic musical twist is set to hit overseas big screens next week under a different movie title. And the reason behind the quick change in name is as un-Disney as it can be.

A change of movie title for movie screening abroad is quite a common practice in Hollywood for various reasons including cultural differences and market positioning. But according to Movie Fone, the makers of the hidden mickey has far greater reasons for the change in name of its latest animated film "Moana".

The iconic maker of fairy tales that has been loved by both children and children at heart alike was quick to change its "Moana" film title as soon as they learned its Italian connotation. Disney's Polynesian princess' "Moana" shares her name with an Italian Pornstar.

Moana Pozzi, an Italian Pornstar was one of the biggest names of Italian adult film industry. According to Variety, Moana Pozzi was hard to miss. In fact, the name Moana stands as a famous Italian household title despite the pornstars early death at age 33.

During her brief life, Moana Pozzi was a superstar. From the reputation she built in the adult film making industry, Moana rose to become a television personality. She took her career to new heights in modelling and films. During her later years, the pornstar was even able to pursue her career on politics.

Many experts believe that the pornstar's name relation to Disney's animated film "Moana" will serve as the film's advantage. However, in spite of the positive association of "Moana" in the country, Disney respectfully declined the offer.

The iconic animated film creator did not want to associate its heartwarming story of "Moana", a young Polynesian girl who conquers the seas to be associated with an adult film superstar. For its Italian release, Disney decided to change the movie title from "Moana" to "Oceana."

Despite the unforeseen change in the movie's title, Disney is positive that this beautiful film will successfully warm our hearts once more. Are you staying tune for "Oceana" slash "Moana"?
