Maintaining America's Educational Stride And Focus Amid Trump Transition

The current political dramas and issues surrounding the United States should not distract the educational concerns as U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. called on educators to persevere in tackling bullying and harassment concerns on race, ethnicity and sexual identification to protect the students' civil rights. In addition to this, there's momentum to keep swinging.

"We now have the highest graduation rate in the country and there has been a drop in the drop-out rate. And more students are going on to college," Secretary of Education King said, The Baltimore Sun quoted.

There are changes brewing on the Trump horizon, requiring more effort and energy to keep the focus and remain goal-driven. With an emphasis on the significance of the local control of schools, programs like the Common Core, No Child Left Behind and Race to the Top may be eliminated. More importantly, according to Lexology, "President-Elect Trump has said he will greatly reduce the influence of the Department of Education, but has given little insight about how he will approach federal rules on colleges and universities."

The concern over the eradication of The Department of Education's prerogative may be an arduous process. Its elimination requires congressional action. This being said it's most certain the entirety of the action cannot be completed in a short amount of time. The 250 of the 4,200 of its political appointees will go first, and the rest will follow.

It's all for the kids, their future, their education. With all that's going on, can the school officers still give a 100 percent of their undivided attention?

Bearing in mind that no administration is immediately ready, Biden has words of reassurance and faith towards the upcoming Trump administration. "Everything will be in good hands," said the Vice President, as per Business Insider, pertaining to the readiness of the new administration by its inauguration date on Jan. 20.
