Facebook Testing New Feature That Scans For Nearby Wi-Fi Hotspots; iOS Users Take First Crack? [DETAILS HERE]

Facebook may be facing tons of issues about fake news and everything that has to do with misinformation, but these doesn't stop them from doing what they do best: expanding the reach of social media. Today, Facebook is working on a new feature that will enable users to find the nearest WiFi hotspot.

Engadget reported that Facebook has a new plan to make practically every moment go live or viral. A new feature, which was found on the iOS, will enable users to Find Wi-Fi" and search the area for nearby wireless spots. Again, this is only fitting for Facebook to spearhead since the platform itself is a melting pot for Live feeds, accurate check-ins and up to date status.

Details are rather straight to the point, but some important snippets are still hanging by a thread. One is that the new feature was only spotted on the iOS. Android users are still somewhat in the dark when it comes to finding free WiFi, but as far as Facebook is concerned, the feature will "help people stay connected to the friends and experiences they care about." If being connected is what they are after, then there's no closed-door - Android and the iOS will eventually meet in the middle and find that nearby WiFi bleep.

But for those using the iOS, Venture Beat is directing users to scroll through their menu and see if there is an "Enable Find Wi-Fi" option. If there is, turn it on and it will scour places with free Wi-Fi on your map. Not only will it find access points, it will also detail the route, nature of business and the like. Of course, your phone will need you to turn on your location in the process.

Facebook is simplifying things when it comes to connection. The company knows that not everyone has access to high-speed mobile data, hence, relying on Facebook Lite as their alternative. What's more is the feature will benefit third world countries not only for Facebook purposes, but also to use the Internet as a practical standard for communication and information.
