Although he respects and believe that the public school system needs more improvement, Oosterhoff admits that "being home-schooled was a wonderful experience," Intellectual Takeout cites.

Homeschooling, due to the lack of social interaction opportunities it provides youngsters, has been clouded by skepticism. However, it has major advantages to consider.

"One of the biggest advantages to home education in high school is the ability to cover the same amount of material in less than half the time it takes for a student in a traditional setting," according to The New York Times. As a result, children have more time for extracurricular activities such as music, literature and sports.
