Could "The Last of Us 2" release date be officially announced real soon? New reports seem to suggest that the highly anticipated sequel from Naughty Dog could see the light of day despite the uncertainty of its development.

Known video game insider and trusted source Shinobi602 hinted that fans might not have to wait too long for "The Last of Us 2" release date, PlayStation Universe reported. The insider gave his statement in response to a fan artwork.

Although his statement about the rumored "The Last of Us 2" release date should be taken with a grain of salt, majority of fans consider his reply as a ray of hope most especially since his track record in speculating video game releases has been reliable in the past. All eyes are now on Naughty Dog and their reply to the new launch speculation.

Previous "The Last of Us 2" release date rumors have hinted the sequel's development after voice actor Nolan North claimed that developers have been contemplating on the second installment. While nothing has been addressed since then, Gamepur noted that should "The Last of Us 2" get the green light, fans should expect the reveal before E3 2017.

Fans were also sent into a frenzy when "The Last of Us 2" release date updates claimed that voice actress Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie in the first installment, has expressed her intent to return and lend her voice to the lead character. However, Ellie's return has been a hot debate online as of writing.
