Why Violence Against Children Should Not Be Tolerated At Any Cost

Violence against children is a major issue. Many societies are dealing with this menace. Violence is not just a practice but it's a mind-set in which people understand no reason, no convincing and no solution.

IOL reports about a campaign against violence on children and women. The organization Save the Children South Africa stated that violence, sexual and physical abuse has cost the country R238 billion last year. The campaign, 16 Days Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, will be raising awareness for the next 16 days.

Violence on children affects them in so many ways — from physical damage to mental illnesses. Therapeutic treatments on these mental health problems have very high cost that the government had to pay. Another aspect is the productivity loss due to violent and abusive events, which hits the economy directly.

Save the Children South Africa emphasized the importance of doing actual efforts to make a change by creating a data to make the authorities realize that the solution to abuse and violence is not just consoling but by eradicating the cruel practice once and for all. If these practices will continue, the economy of the nation will suffer too.

EstCourt also highlighted the importance of the campaign in South Africa. It said that 16 days of Activism is a great initiative and it's time to put an end to domestic violence against children and women. Not only physical abuse is a problem there, emotional abuse and trauma are also common.

Campaigners encourage women to report any sort of abuse and ask men to talk about violence and sexual assault socially so that more awareness could be created. Helplines are open and their numbers are displayed in markets and on TV channels in case anyone would want to report an incident.

Children are also supported to share their problems in school, whether it's bullying or beating. All these measures could help people in a lot of ways and who knows, violence will finally end.
