Ron Glass Death: Emmy-Nominated TV Actor Dies At 71

Ron Glass, the Emmy-nominated TV actor, passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on Friday at the age of 71.

The actor starred in numerous television shows in the US all throughout his illustrious career. These television shows include "Friends," "Star Trek" and "CSI."

Glass' most notable television performance to date is his role as Shepherd Book in the Joss Whedon-helmed series "Firefly," as well as its movie sequel "Serenity." Before that, he had his breakout role in another television series called "Barney Miller," which is set in the New York Police Department (NYPD), in 1975.

Glass' role was that of a thinker who was well-dressed and go-getting, and had an obsession in launching a writing career. His role earned him an Emmy-nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category in 1982, according to Variety.

After his stint in "Barney Miller," Glass appeared in 18 episodes of the 1982 remake of "The Odd Couple" called "The New Odd Couple." His other television credits include "The Twilight Zone," "Family Matters" and "Murder, She Wrote."

According to Digital Spy, several of his former co-workers paid tribute to the actor, after his death was confirmed by his representative, who did not reveal the cause of his death.

Joss Whedon led the tributes for the late actor, posting a clip on Twitter. "He got there with grace, humor & enormous heart. He was, among so many other things, my Shepherd. Raise, appropriately, a glass. Rest, Ron," he captioned the video.

"Ron Glass was one of the greatest actors to work with. His laugh was beyond infectious and his generosity was ever present. #ripronglass," Alan Tudyk also tweeted, while Sean Mayer wrote: "Ron Glass. What an honor it was to know you, to work beside you and to have called you my friend. You will be missed. I love you sir."
