Oregon Football News: Ducks Coach Mark Helfrich To Be Fired? Team Looking At New Replacement

Among the headlines hitting the Oregon football news is that the Ducks coach Mark Helfrich is suppose to meet up with the athletic director but his future as the incumbent team coach may be at bit dark. Reports have it that the Oregon Ducks are looking at replacements for the coaching position.

A few sources cited that Oregon Ducks is about ready to let go of their head coach Mark Helfrich after a disappointing finish in the season, according to USA Today. A 34-24 loss at Oregon all but erased any argument that could be made for Oregon State not to sack the Ducks coach Mark Helfrich.

Personalities close to the proceedings, on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of these proceedings, have confirmed that indeed preparations for a coaching search have been initiated which will lead to the eventual firing of Oregon Ducks coach Mark Helfrich, per Oregon Live.

After winning 24 games, a Pac-12 conference title and leading the Oregon Ducks to their first College Football Playoff title game in his first two seasons as head coach, Mark Helfrich managed to bag just 13 games and finished the current season 4-8. This is by far the Ducks' worst record since 2004.

With the Oregon Ducks' trend following a downward spiral, the school is left with no choice but to respond accordingly and make preparations for a new head coach.

Several personalities are being considered for the position with names like head coach P.J. Fleck of Western Michigan, Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin, and most notably on their radar Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, as reported by CBS Sports. Kelly is reported to be showing some interest in other coaching positions.

Word has it that the Oregon Ducks want to find a replacement in the quickest possible time due to the upcoming season. Since there is no Super Bowl game to worry about, expect the Oregon Ducks' focus to on finding a new head coach and get back on the winning trail again.
