'The Odd Couple' Canceled By CBS? No More Fourth Season? [DETAILS HERE]

"The Odd Couple" has now reached episode 13 same as the other first two seasons. The sad  news about season 3 is, it is almost certain that season 4 will not be coming up. CBS made a pass this time because the rating is not at par with expectations.

At this point, CBS is not placing orders for additional episodes of the comedy sitcom which is now almost at the tail end of Season 3, "The Odd Couple" lead stars Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon resemble the unlikely roommates in the classic Oscar Madison and Felix Unger old show.

The original material is Neil Simon's play that won Tony's award. It has led to the creation of a 1968 film and the unforgettable ABC series in the 1970s that feature Jack Klugman and Tony Randall. A 1982-83 ABC series named "The New Odd Couple" was also a hit. Ron Glass who just passed away played Felix in that project, says TV Line.

'The Odd Couple" first two seasons were aired already during midseason. Adding more episodes is not really ideal with the line up of shows at CBS. Season 3 is a compromise with producers wanting to make it a full one but CBS declined.

CBS clarified that they are not canceling "The Odd Couple" with five more episodes in the pipeline. It would need to boost its rating though in those remaining shows to be able to continue for Season 4. At the rate that it is going, it seems that the chance is very slim. CBS just has too many options to stick with the show longer. Another comedy "Superior Donuts" and four dramatic series are awaiting slots.

The medical drama "Pure Genius" s also in the same plight as "The Odd Couple" in CBS. For now, Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon continue to entertain comedy lovers every Monday night at 9:30 on CBS. Who knows? It might pick-up sooner than people think, according to TV Guide.
