Kids In Danger: Sexual Predators Targeting Vulnerable Children In Residential Childcare Homes?

Children homes and foster care facilities are supposed to follow a code of conduct and ethical rules while taking care of the children. The young minds of the kids are like clean slates but once something is written on it, they could become indelible.

ABC News reported about a children's home where a staff member allegedly touched children inappropriately. The accusation was made by a fellow worker, who also added that theft and mishandling of accounts were also seen in the children's home.

The misconduct was brought to the knowledge of the children's home administration and also a government official. Unfortunately, no actions were taken.

According to the worker who wanted to remain unidentified, some child care places have no criteria for workers and no background check is done before hiring someone. The experts on child care consider such children homes and foster cares bad examples and suggest that an alternative should be found.

These misconducts could lead to more dangerous activities and affect children's lives. WalesOnline also reported an incident where a manager of children home asked a friend to bring drinks for teens and left them unsupervised during a trip. The manager was later banned as the children were supposed to be taken care of not to be given booze.

The chairperson of the committee who looked into the matter carefully expressed that the manager has not only betrayed professional ethics and children but also presented a bad example of children homes and foster care.

Such incidents could create a lot of problems for those child services that are actually dedicated to provide children with a better future and are sincerely doing their work. There should be a special training center for every child home where a candidate must be trained and documents must be checked before every hiring in such institutions.
