One Harmful Danger Of An Authoritarian Regime To Parenting: Resist Or Survive?

The greatest danger of the new President Donald Trump is his possible distortions of reality. Distortions rooted in his compulsive need to be right, to dominate and to diminish non-conforming persons.

The irregularities Trump does to reality reveals that his word might not be true, is frightening. The office of the presidency will not change his authoritarian personality pattern, thus the people under him could either follow him or resist the change.

On the contrary, the presidency will afford him a vast power to do what he wants to do as a person. The Trump Tower is symbolic: the president-elect being authoritarian has a mindset of imposing authority over the people and that they must obey. The question now is what will happen to those who resist the change?

Every parent must do everything he can to protect the well-being of there children. Living and raising children under an authoritarian regime will force every parent to confront who they want their children to be, Huffington Post says.

Watching every child struggle without stepping in to "fix" things for a parent is one of the hardest things one could experience in parenting. Even though a parent knows it was the best thing for his children.

And the truth is, from the very beginning, being a parent is a balance of taking care of the kids while letting them grow up and learn from their mistakes. A parent's role of simply loving and protecting a baby from pain and discomfort changes to one of accepting that a child or teen will need to experience natural consequences for his or her actions, Psychology Today notes.

The hard part for them is that these consequences almost always include some discomfort, disappointment or pain. With the kind of government the United States has in the present, the only choice we need to make is either to resist the change or survive for the sake of the next generation.
