Rosie O'Donnell's Missing Daughter, Chelsea, Found in New Jersey, Celeb Grateful For Public's Help

Chelsea, the 17-year-old daughter of Rosie O'Donnell who was reported missing by her mother, has been found safe.

On Tuesday, the comedienne posted a message on her website, stating that the police in Rockland County in New York has been looking for her daughter since Sunday, Aug 16. The young girl was apparently missing since Aug 11 and she was supposed to be with her 6-month-old therapy dog Bear.

According to the celebrity's publicist, Cindi Berger, Chelsea has a mental illness. Her mother became more worried for she has stopped taking medication since her disappearance.

"Chelsea, like millions of people, lives with mental illness," said Berger via USA Today. "It has been a difficult road for Chelsea and her family and they just want her back safe."

Rosie also posted information about her missing daughter on her Twitter account.

Hours after the news broke, police officers in New Jersey were apparently able to locate her. She is now safe and in good health.

In announcing that Chelsea was alright, Rosie also took to Twitter to thank the public.

Chelsea's mom also announced on Facebook that the young girl is doing okay. "Chelsea has been found and is in police custody. Thank you for all of your sharing, love and help. Xoxo," Kelli Carpenter wrote.

Chelsea Belle O'Donnell is one of the three children adopted by Rosie and Kelli when they were still together. Yahoo! reported in March that the teenager was caught in a controversy between Rosie and her birth mother, who accused the actress of forcing her to give up her child.

According to Radar Online, it was Chelsea who initiated contact with her biological family, which Rosie said that she had "encouraged and supported Chelsea's desire to communicate with her birth mother." She added, "How disappointing that Chelsea's birth mother would go public with this personal story without ever having met Rosie."

Rosie is a parent to three other children - Parker, the eldest and Vivienne Rose, who was conceived through artificial insemination with Kelli carrying the baby to term. Dakota, the youngest, is her daughter with second wife Michelle Rounds. The two are currently in the middle of a divorce.
