On August 15, "Snowden" star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his wife, Tasha McCauley, welcomed the birth of their first son, whose name has been kept private. The actor, 34, surprised everyone with the good news, because he never revealed that he and his wife were expecting.
A rep of the actor confirmed the birth, according to ABC. The actor followed the same protocol with his wedding to Tasha last December, as it was also kept hush-hush, according to Los Angeles Times.
The only time Joseph ever talked about his private life was when he guested on Howard Stern's radio program in 2013. There, he admitted that he was dating someone. However, he refused to name the woman and said, "She really doesn't want to be a part of that," according to People Magazine.
The subject on Stern's show was on marriage and monogamy. "I think that I could partner up with somebody -- I don't know who that somebody is -- I could partner up with a woman and commit to, we're going to raise a family and that's a project we're going to commit to for 20-something years," he told Stern, according to Los Angeles Times.
Us Weekly reported that the couple met through mutual friends in 2013. "She's very intellectual and a creator, which he finds very attractive," a source told the news outlet. "It's a really healthy and normal relationship."
"You can tell he adores her," the source added. "She's beautiful and smart. Really one of those full package girls."
Joseph's wife is reportedly fluent in three languages and her LinkedIn profile states that she's the "Co-Founder of Fellow Robots, Director of Business Development at GeoSim."
Meanwhile, as his family life is doing well, Joseph's career is also picking up. The actor, who stars in the political thriller "Snowden," is said to be a strong contender for the Oscar's next year, according to Independent. The movie is based on the life of Edward Snowden, the computer professional, who leaked classified information from the NSA. The film is directed by Oliver Stone.
Joseph is also set to make a guest appearance on "The Mindy Project's" season 4 on Hulu, where he will play Mindy's husband in an alternate reality, according to Entertainment Weekly. The actor is also on the second season of his "Hit Record" series on Pivot. Interestingly enough, "The Mindy Project" stars, Mindy Kaling and Chris Messina, where guests on Joseph's show, too.
