Google Pixel vs. Apple iPhone: Which Smartphone Is Better?

The Apple iPhone has often been compared with Samsung, considered its chief rival among many players in the smartphone industry. These days, however, more and more tech experts and enthusiasts are pitting the iPhone against a newcomer: Google Pixel was released last October.

So which smartphone is better? In terms of features, Business Insider cited several reasons customers should pick Pixel after comparing it with Apple's iPhone 6S and 7.

First, Google Pixel is lighter, weighing only 168 grams compared with the iPhone 6S's 192 grams. The iPhone 7, Apple's newest model, weighs slightly lighter than its predecessor at 188 grams-but it's still heavier than the Pixel.

Google Pixel's AMOLED screen was also cited as having an advantage over the iPhone.'s Retina display. While the iPhone 7 plus has a 1080p screen, it pales in comparison to the Pixel's 1440p.

Google Pixel's battery also said to recharge much faster than the iPhone's. A test by the YouTube channel SuperSaf TV shows that after two hours, the Pixel was already fully charged while the iPhone just has 72 percent battery power.

The iPhone 7, however, appears to have the advantage when it comes to speed, trumping not only the Pixel but also other smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5, Sony XZ, and HTC 10. A speed test of the smartphones, which involved loading data-heavy apps and games, shows the iPhone 7 as the fastest of them all, the Daily Express reports.

The iPhone 7 Plus also has a better camera because of its dual-camera setup, according to ValueWalk. The Pixel, however, has a better megapixel rating of 12.3 for the primary and 8 for the front camera.

The Apple iPhone and Google Pixel have been compared with each other not only for their features but also sales. Customer activations of Pixel spiked by 112 percent from the previous weekends during Black Friday, Fortune reports, citing research by Localytics. In contrast, iPhone 7 activations rose by only 13 percent, trailing even Samsung's Galaxy S7, which saw a 36-percent rise.
