Fans and followers of One Direction has another sad news coming for them this year: Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are extending their hiatus. While sources close to the matter reassure the public that the break is temporary and the One Direction boys will be back together in no time, hardcore followers of the group fear that the departure of Zayn Malik caused an irreparable damage. To date, no official announcement from the One Direction guys themselves had been issue regarding the extended hiatus.

"They are taking a hiatus so they can work on individual projects for a while but they are not splitting up," explains a source to E News. The insider further shares, "They will remain together and plan to work together in the future." The source goes on to say that Styles, Payne, Tomlinson and Horan remain "great friends" and will continue to "fully support one another." The inside also says that the move to extend the break will only serve to give the One Direction boys some breathing room to explore their own hobbies and interests.

The source further shares, "They are very aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together." The insider goes on to point out that the One Direction fans should not lament this decision as "this is an exciting time for them creatively and as a group." Moreover, Styles, Payne, Tomlinson and Horan reportedly enjoy working as a team so much that they actually see One Direction still going strong in the next years to come. The source shares that the remaining members of the boy band "envision a future together." However, Styles, Payne, Tomlinson and Horan want to have the "freedom to do other things as well."

"It's the best of all worlds," echoes another source, according to PEOPLE Magazine. The insider further says, "The band all have their own solo interests, whether it be music, art or acting, but they can stick together." The friend goes on to state that Styles, Payne, Tomlinson and Horan are "very loyal" to one another and no bad blood will be shed once the hiatus takes place. The source says, "They are all incredibly loyal despite the multiple offers they get all the time."

At the moment, Styles, Payne, Tomlinson and Horan have yet to offer their official statement regarding the extended hiatus of One Direction. It could be recalled that it was Malik who first walked away from the boy band and continued to pursue a solo career. Malik is now signed with RCA.
