Nintendo’s Midas Touch Lifts ‘Super Mario Run’ At The Top Of The Charts

Nintendo has been consistent in successfully porting some of their game franchise into another form of or platform for gaming. Earlier this week, Nintendo officially launched Super Mario Run for the IOS.

Super Mario Run is a side scroller game featuring Nintendo's very own mascot, Mario. "Super Mario Run" starts off as an FTP trial game which currently priced at $9.99 for a full game access. The setting of Super Mario Run resembles the environment of the previous "Super Mario Games." The monsters populating Mario's path were also designed based on the previous games.

"Super Mario Run" is a game about collecting coins, the more coins the player collects, the higher his rank. This type of gameplay is not new in mobile gaming, in fact, most mobile games are based on this type of gameplay. The android version, however, was not yet announced, although Nintendo already confirmed the version earlier this month.

When it comes to ratings, "Super Mario Run" has got an average of three and a half stars from more than 44,000 votes in iTunes. Similar games which are cheaper are getting better scores. "Mikey Shorts" is one of those games similar to "Super Mario Run,"' Mikey Shorts" has a price tag of $4.99 and an average rating of 4.6 stars, the game, however, is not getting the same number of downloads from iTunes. "Super Mario Run's" 2,850,000 downloads already surpassed "Pokemon Go's" day one download of 900,000.

The full support from Nintendo could also be one of the reasons for "Super Mario Run's" Day-one success. Not to mention that the main character of the game is Nintendo's own icon. Nintendo's tenure in the gaming industry could also be one of the factors why almost every Mario title is already considered a success even before its official launch date.
