‘Oscar Awards’ Shorlisted Nine Movies For The Foreign Movie Category, Includes ‘Toni Erdmann’ And ‘Paradise’ Check Out The Rest

Excellent movies worthy of recognitions such as "The Godfather" and 'Gone WithThe Wind" are of course not just limited to Hollywood. This is the reason why the "Academy Awards or more commonly referred to as Oscars, always chooses movies produced in other countries to be hailed the best in their "Foreign Movie" category. For the 89th Academy Awards, the prestigious award-giving body has chosen nine foreign films that might make it to the list of nominees.

According to an article from Variety, members of the Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences screened a total of 85 submissions from various countries. Apparently, the committee reviewed these submissions from October to December before coming up with six films. Then the Foreign Language Film committee of the "Oscars" chose three films too, bringing the number of shortlisted movies to nine.

The said films are "Land of Mine" from Denmark, "The Salesman" from Iran, "Tanna" from Australia, and It's Only the End of the World" from Canada. Other movies include "The King's Choice," from Norway, "Paradise" from Russia, "A Man Called Ove" from Sweden. To complete the list are "Toni Erdmann" from Germany and "My Life as a Zucchini" from Switzerland.


These nine films will further be screened by special committees from Los Angeles, London, and New York. The official five nominees for the "Foreign Language Film" category of Oscars will be announced on Jan. 24 as posted in the Oscars website.

The" Academy Awards" is a much-awaited event in the whole world as it is a treat to see the most famous and glamorous Hollywood stars gather together.
