Horror Movies For Christmas? Here Are The Best Scary Movies Of 2016, List Includes ‘The Witch’ & ‘Train To Busan’

Horror movies such as "Scream" and 'The Conjuring are never just meant for Halloween. This coming Christmas, folks can spruce up the holidays by watching great scary movies. Since not all movies are created equal, here are some of the movies that will surely give you goosebumps.

Year 2016 has seen the release of many horror movies and according to a list from Collider, the best ones are, "Evolution," "Green Room" and "Under the Shadow." The movie, "Evolution" is a weird sci-fi thriller that is set on a fictional remote island which is occupied by boys in puberty age and their supposed mothers. The terror will begin when one of the boys decided to discover the true nature of his guardian.

"Green Room" is a great scary movie as it excellently incorporates violence, horror, and emotions.Meanwhile, the film from Iran, "Under The Shadow," features the terror of repressed spirits.


Two movies from Korea make it to list, the "Train to Busan" which is a zombie apocalypse style movie and "The Wailing" which centers around the mystery of murders in a rural town. Other films to make it on the list include, "The Neon Demon," "Cloverfield Lane," and 'The Eyes of my Mother."

The post from Collider and the article from Vulture agree on the best horror film of 2016 and this belongs to a film set in the 1600's, "The Witch." This horror flick is an impressive directorial debut from Robert Eggers as the film is described as something that does more than shock the audience.

 In fact, this masterpiece has this uncanny power to stay in the viewer's mind for days after watching it. Of course, the brilliance of the film is also largely due to young talented actresses Harvey Scrimshaw and Anya Taylor-Joy.
