Here's What We Can Expect At The 2017 Consumer Electronics Show In Las Vegas

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is just a few weeks away, and excitement over it is already building up in the tech community. CES 2017, which will give the world a preview of new consumer technologies for the rest of the year, will kick off on January 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Television is expected to be one of the highlights of CES 2017. The booths of major brands like Samsung, LG, and Sony will be peppered with both HD and high dynamic range or HDR television screens, the International Business Times reports. There's also a possibility more advanced concepts like 8K screens will be shown off.

Smartphones will be another center of attention at CES 2017, although a bigger event for mobile phones - the Mobile World Congress - will take place a few weeks later in Spain. According to the International Business Times, LG will announce its latest mid-range K series smartphones: the K3, K4, K8, and K10. Sony might also showcase an update to the Xperia Z5 Premium.

When it comes to cars, old companies like Chrysler and newcomers like Faraday Future will take center stage at CES 2017. TechCrunch reports that they are expected to display connected car systems, as well as electric vehicles and self-driving cars.

Virtual and augmented reality systems are also expected to get much attention at CES 2017. HTC's Vive, Samsung's Gear VR, and Google's Daydream will be among the show's stars, as well as AR games similar to Pokemon Go.

Meanwhile, big companies like HP and Dell may launch their new desktops and laptops at CES 2017, Fortune reports. New drones will show off their better ranges and longer battery lives, and satellite television providers like Dolby, Harman, and Roku will give a preview of the future of home entertainment.

Besides all these expected highlights, Fortune says there's always room for surprise at CES 2017, just like in previous years.
