The year 2016 has witnessed the unfortunate passing away of significant names in the entertainment industry. Celebrities like Carrie Fisher, David Bowie, George Michael, Christina Grimmie, Prince and other stars have bid goodbye to this world. CARRIE FISHER. The most recent death recorded is the one with Carrie Fisher who died on Dec. 27. The American actress is popularly known for her iconic role of Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" series. The actress suffered from heart attack which led to her demise at age 60. Things get sadder when her mother, Debbie Reynolds, was reported to have died also, the day after Carrie's death, the Guardian reported.

GEORGE MICHAEL. Christmas day became a sad event when news came out regarding the death of Wham! star George Michael. Unfortunately, Fadi Fawaz, Michael's boyfriend since 2011, revealed that the pop idol had died alone in his house that Christmas morning, Telegraph has detailed.

PRINCE. The "Purple Rain" singer was found dead at his Paisley Park compound on April 26. According to Daily Mail, the singer still owes his divorce lawyers with more than half a million dollars.

DAVID BOWIE. The death of Rolling Stone star David Bowie has also saddened many hearts. The iconic singer died of cancer on Jan. 10. Lady Gaga even made a nice tribute for him at the 2016 Grammys.

CHRISTINA GRIMMIE. One of the most tragic and unexpected deaths witnessed in the entertainment industry is the death of "The Voice" Christina Grimmie. The 22-year-old singer was shot to death after her concert on June 10. According to E! News, the killer walked toward the singer and shot her upfront. The killer also shot himself while he was taken captive by Christina's brother and was announced dead on the spot too. Furthermore, Grimmie's family has filed a lawsuit against The Plaza Live Theater, the concert venue, for its inability to secure Christina's event, Gossip Extra has noted.
