Activision’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ And ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Delisted From Online Retailers

It seems both the "Amazing Spider-Man" series and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan" are no longer available in online stores. Activision may have been removing these titles from the PlayStation Store, Steam, the eShop, and also the Xbox Store.

As of this week, news broke that a number of licensed games from Activision may no longer be for sale in digital stores. This may be due to licensing issues with Marvel. However, the games mentioned are still available in brick-and-mortar stores, as of this writing.

GameSpot has made a follow-up on any formal announcements from Activision as regards the reason why the games were delisted. But the company has not made any formal comments yet. Although the removal of these games from online stores has been done quietly, games that have been purchased earlier can still be played by gamers.

The only odd thing about this move is that despite the similar situation of removing licensed games from online stores happening in the past, the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan" from Platinum Games was recently launched last May 24, 2016. It was released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC. The game has only been in digital shelves for 8 months. It is rather odd that the company is pulling the game out a little bit too early.

Meanwhile, "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" were launched in 2012 and 2014, respectively. So this is not much of a surprise for gamers.

In instances where licensed games are removed from digital stores is that their licensing agreements have expired. But in the case of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan," it is still an awfully short time.

Activision's "Deadpool" and the "X-Men" were, as gamers can recall, delisted from digital stores a few years back. This similar situation could be attributed to a licensing issue with Marvel, according to GameRant, the owner of both franchises.

Also, it is notable that "Fast & Furious Showdown" has also been delisted across all store fronts. Although like all the other games mentioned, it is still available physically. Gamers can still pick up a physical copy of the games as they are still in circulation.
