Texas Biology Teacher Smiles In Mugshot Amid Sex Accusations With Teen Student

The police recently arrested a Biology teacher from Texas due to accusations of having a sexual intercourse with a teen student. Many people felt she did not regret what she did because she smiled for her mugshot.

Reports confirmed the teacher might face jail time due to the charge she received was a second-degree felony. Scallywag & Vagabond reported the student involved is 17-years-old while Fowlkes is 27-years-old.

Fowlkes worked as a teacher at Lockhart High School. School officials fired her from her post after reports of the indecent conduct surfaced. Aside from her court appearance, she was also set to appear before the State Board for Educator Certification. 

School superintendent Susan Bohn said in a statement in part, "Student safety is the district's most important priority. As soon as we learned of the report, we acted swiftly to involve law enforcement and CPS to conduct a thorough investigation." She added the school district does not tolerate any improper communication or contact between a teacher and a student.

She worked at the school since 2014. Authorities arrested Fowlkes on Monday and remained in custody at the Caldwell County Jail. Police charged her with engaging in an improper relationship between an educator and a student.

A school administrator contacted police officials about the inappropriate relationship between the teacher and the student. The 17-year-old student, who is not named, admitted to officials he and Fowlkes had sexual contact.

Fowlkes celebrated her birthday the night before police took her in. She celebrated her birthday with her husband, whom she tied the knot with in 2013, The Sun revealed.

It remained unknown when the sexual contact of the teacher and the student started. Police did not say what the parents of the child said or if the contact was consensual.

This was not the first time a teacher got involved in an inappropriate student-teacher relationship. Earlier this month, a judge penalized a teacher to 10 years of probation after admitting she had inappropriate sexual relationships with two of her students.
