Actor Daniel Craig Returning As Bond? Actor Clarifies 'Break This Glass and Slash My Wrist' Comments [Video]

Contrary to earlier reports claiming that this will be his last portrayal of famed spy James Bond and that there might be a new 007 casted on the block, actor Daniel Craig clarified his earlier comments, saying “maybe I'll make another one.”

In an earlier interview with Time Out London, the famed actor said “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists” in reference to making more Bond movies. This comment has received varied responses, with many news sites writing about it. Lists of possible actors that could be Bond also showed up.

In an interview with Today, Craig himself clarified his earlier comments. It seems that when he was asked if he wants to make another Bond movie, he just wasn't in the mood to answer.

"If you're 200 hundred yards from the end of a marathon and someone comes running up to you and says, 'Are you gonna run another marathon?' there's two words you use," the actor explained. "And not on a morning show!"

"You know, I've had massive amounts of fun making ["Spectre"] — probably more fun on this film than I have on all of the others put together," Craig said. "And the simple answer at the moment is: I don't want to think about it. I want to think about other things.”

“I want to go home." he added.

Contrary to feeling like slashing his wrists, Craig said that he enjoys making Bond films, and might make another one.

"I couldn't be happier," he said. "I've had a wonderful, wonderful time making these movies, and maybe I'll make another one. I don't know."

Well, that clarified things. Fans will be delighted to know that Craig, who got negative comments (i.e. “Bond can't be blond”) at the start of his 007 career, is keeping his options open. This is because he has proven himself to be a great Bond.

“Initially no one can live up to Bond,” Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Rentrak, told Variety. “As an actor you have to prove it to the world that you’re worthy.”

Variety reported that Craig has been hailed as the “best Bond since [James] Connery.” and has proven to the world that he is indeed 007. The news outlet adds that Craig kept the Bond franchise relevant to the 21 ST CENTURY, and if he leaves, he should be credited for doing that.

Here's Craig's interview with Today.
