‘Let’s Move’ Campaign Successful in Preventing Childhood Obesity

Michelle Obama's 'Let's Move' campaign is reported to have been a success, according to sources.

Michelle Obama launched her initiative to curb obesity especially among children two and a half years ago. Since then, it has been said that several states saw obesity rates at a commendable decline.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP), obesity rates among preschoolers living in low-income households have lowered exponentially.

When Michelle Obama first announced this initiative, conservatives mocked her decision and questioned her commitment.

Former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin even made comments about this initiative on the Laura Ingram Show saying that this issue should not be the concern of the government. Rather, it should be every parent's concern.

Sarah Palin further stressed the assumption that this initiative is Michelle Obama's way of questioning every parent's decision on how to feed and what to feed their children with.

Another critic, Rush Limbaugh attacked Michelle Obama after she was spotted with her two daughters feasting on a 1,575-calorie rib during their vacation.

Rush Limbaugh questioned how someone who is promoting a campaign against obesity manages to consume that much food.

However, all of these criticisms about Michelle Obama's initiative were recently silenced after the CDCP confirmed that obesity rates among children have declined.

Michelle Obama continues to campaign for an active lifestyle and healthier eating habits not only among children but also among adults.

Her initiatives were supported by several shows and celebrities specifically Sesame Street where she guested and exercised with Elmo. She has also guested on the Ellen Degeneres show where she showed audiences her push-up routines. She was also seen on the Late Night program dancing with host Jimmy Fallon.

Michelle Obama also continues to invite children from across the United States to the White House where she teaches them how to cook healthy dishes.
