4 Metabolism Boosting Foods To Lose Weight

According to Dr. Andrew Weil, human metabolism naturally slows down as people age, which can lead to weight gain. However, he said people can prevent this from happening with the proper diet and lifestyle.

Thus, Dr. Weil listed some food on his website that has proven to be effective in boosting metabolism. Try these following suggestions and get on your way to a fitter you.

Eat healthy carbohydrates.

Eating right kind of carbs can help burn more calories and can make an individual feel more energized. With that being said, Dr. Weil suggested people should opt for unrefined, low-glycemic choices like lentils and sprouted grain bread or beans.

Add spices to your food.

Spices such as black pepper and ginger can boost the generation of heat in the body and the process can lead to more calories burned. And the best way to start getting more spices is to add it when cooking your meals.

Drink green tea every day.

Aside from the fact that green tea has plenty of health benefits, this type of tea can also increase metabolism. Dr. Weil said that the main antioxidant polyphenol in this tea, known as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), can stimulate the human body to help burn calories.

Get hungry.

Dr. Weil said some people made an assumption that they need to eat at least five or six meals daily to boost their metabolism. However, he said that a recent study suggested that the belief is probably false.

He also stated that people should allow themselves to be slightly hungry to increase metabolism. And the best way to do this is to consume two or three modest meals per day, without snacks.

Always remember, revving up metabolism will not happen overnight. Of course, your body needs time to adjust to your new meal plans. And while adjusting with our meal plan, Dr. Weil highly recommended to get physical exercises, so you can keep your metabolism functioning properly.
