Filmed with a budget of $58 million, the 20th Century Fox release has already broken even on its production budget, and garnered even more. During its first three days in movie theaters, "Deadpool" earned $135 million.

According to Variety, the movie about Marvel's foul-mouthed superhero could easily rake in $150 million over the four-day weekend.

During its weekend debut, "Deadpool" was able to break several records. Not only is it the first R-rated film to garner over $100 million during its opening weekend, but the movie has also become the 17th biggest opening weekend of all time (not accounting for inflation). USA Today reports:

"The biggest R-rated opening (beating 2003's 'The Matrix Reloaded,' which opened with $91.8 million), the biggest February weekend and biggest President's Day four-day weekend (beating 2015's 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' with $85.2 million for the former and $93 million for the latter)."

Many have been left surprised by the turnout of "Deadpool," the R-rating of the movie had left many to believe that it wouldn't do as well as it actually did.

"'Deadpool' just kept going up and up. Obliterating expectations just doesn't cover this," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for comScore. "And rather than hurting, the R-rating actually helped. It made the film an edgy, must-see superhero event."

We're pretty sure Ryan Reynolds is pretty ecstatic about the numbers. He's being working on his witty, smart-mouthed character for 11 years. "Deadpool" is also a huge comeback for Reynolds, who suffered from "a superhero setback" with 2011's "Green Lantern."
