Convicted Murderer Of Jennifer Hudson’s Mom Claims He Was Set Up By Police

Seven years after the crime, the man who was convicted for murdering Academy Award winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson's mom, brother, and nephew, claimed he has nothing to do with the crime. He alleged that a police-concocted "conspiracy" resulted to his conviction.

According to New York Daily News, William Balfour, Hudson's former brother-in-law, was sentenced in 2012 to life imprisonment without parole for a triple murder he committed in October 2008. A jury has found him guilty for shooting and killing Hudson's mother Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson, and nephew Julian King.

Balfour was the estranged husband of Hudson's sister, Julia Hudson, at the time of the killings. Prosecutors said that he was a jealous husband who stalked his wife's family home in Englewood after they separated. He was arrested right away on the day of the slayings.

However, more than seven years after the crime, Balfour asserted that he is innocent in an interview with ABC 7, his first media interview since the triple slayings. "I didn't have nothing to do with the case and don't know who had anything to do with the case," he stated.

Balfour claimed that the cellphone records and gun residue found on his clothing and car steering wheel were all planted by the cops or concocted by evidence technicians. ""Exactly, exactly," he replied when asked if his conviction was a result of a huge conspiracy.

According to Balfour, it is up for the people to make sense out of what he has said. "Because if you make a statement and the statement don't add up to the way the murders happen - then it's a problem. That's reasonable doubt."

Commenting about Balfour's claims, the Chicago Police Department said that they firmly stand behind their investigation. "CPD stands firmly behind our investigation which was based exclusively on facts and evidence in this senseless murder," their spokesperson stated.
