Prince William And Kate Middleton May Not Handle Kensington Palace Alone; Royal Staff Threatens To Strike

Prince William and Kate Middleton are in hot water right now, especially with their royal staff threatening to strike. It isn't every day that the royal family is bombarded with labor related issues but this one might just have a ground to stand on.

According to E! Online, the employees of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Kensington Palace are threatening to strike due to a proposed cut in the salaries of some them. The amount being proposed to be cut will amount to a total of $5,000 annually, which for the average employee will create a huge setback in terms of their annual budgets.

The charity that handles the salaries of Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal staff wanted to limit their spending, which was why the salary cuts were initially proposed. However, while there were those Kensington palace employees who threatened to strike, there were also those who were considered as very "close" to the Duke and the Duchess, who will stay at the palace even if there would indeed be salary reductions.

Pop Sugar reported that those who wanted to strike were those involved in looking after the exhibits and those who work at the ticket offices. Personnel in charge of tours, showing visitors the grounds at Kensington, were also among those who threatened to strike.

In an interview with Metro U.K., the spokeswoman of the Historic Royal Palaces said, "We have given a year's notice of the planned changes and are currently in discussions with the Public and Commercial Services Union." She further added that they value their staff "very highly and hope to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement."

Well, one can only hope that they will be able to reach a good agreement and that those who threaten to walk out of the Prince William and Kate Middleton's residence will change their minds and stay. The royal couple would surely need the help in running Kensington Palace.
