Girl Scout Increased Cookie Sales When She Sold Them Outside A Pot Dispensary

One of the last places that many parents will allow their children to go to would be a pot dispensary. But for this Girl Scout, being close to a pot shop means being able to sell cookies -- lots of them!

Indeed, this girl from Portland, Oregon, with the help of her aunt, set up her mini cookie store right outside Foster Buds Marijuana Dispensary. Based on Parenting news, she used a three-word advertisement sign which says, "Satisfy Your Munchies," and it was quite effective considering that they immediately had several customers right after setting up their table laden with Girl Scout cookies.

The scout was trying to raise money, which she will be using for a trip during the summer to a horse camp. The idea of selling Girl Scout cookies outside the pot dispensary was hers originally.

While some people thought that it was an ingenious move, there were also those who expressed their disdain against the parents of the scout. One Facebook commenter said that allowing a "daughter posted up in front of an adult business selling cookies is beyond a bad idea as a parent."

On the other hand, there was also one which commended the marketing strategy employed by the girl in selling Girl Scout cookies -- having no semblance of illegality.

Oregon Live reported that as far as the owner and staff of the marijuana dispensary are concerned, they were "proud" to have the Girl Scout selling cookies outside their shop. In addition to that "proud" feeling, the shop gave customers who bought cookies a discount on a certain type of marijuana.

Sarah Miller, the spokeswoman of Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington, said, "Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington recommends that if a minor cannot enter a premises unaccompanied, she should not sell Girl Scout Cookies in front of the premises." She also said that selling in front of a pot dispensary is rare.

The recent Portland incident is not a first. Last year, a San Francisco Girl Scout was able to sell more than 200 boxes in only a few hours when she used a similar tactic of selling Girl Scout cookies near a pot dispensary.
