Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder Reunion Confirmed? ‘The Vampire Diaries’ EP Julie Plec Remains Optimistic

The most awaited reunion between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder may happen in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 finale. In a recent interview with Julie Plec, the executive producer admitted that there are a lot of ways to make the reunion possible.

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev may reunite on the small screens as "Delena" fans have been eagerly anticipating their reunion on "The Vampire Diaries." As most fans and viewers can recall, Dobrev decided to leave The CW series after Season 6.

The show, however, did not kill off Dobrev's character, Elena Gilbert, which meant that there are still possible ways in which Dobrev can return to the series. This possibility excited many fans of Dobrev and Somerhalder, especially after executive producer Julie Plec admitted to being hopeful about the said reunion, Design & Trend reported.

"All I can say is that Damon is committed to being at Elena's side when she wakes up in however many years it takes, and he's going to do everything he can to make sure he still believes he's worthy of her," she said.

Plec also shared that there are a lot of ways in which Elena can return on "TVD" and reminded fans of the time when Damon was in a coffin. This has led to speculations that Dobrev may reprise her role during the Season 7 finale of the series.

Rumors surrounding Dobrev and Somerhalder's reunion on "Vampire Diaries" were fueled when the former was revealed to have broken up with her boyfriend, Austin Stowell. Celeb Dirty Laundry reported that Somerhalder and Dobrev may reunite in front of the cameras now that the 27-year-old actress is single.

Rumors continue to plague Dobrev and Somerhalder despite the couple's breakup in 2013. Somerhalder and his wife, Nikki Reed are also rumored to be facing issues in their marriage, but the couple remains strong to this date.
