‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Release Date, Spoilers & Updates: Tom Hiddleston Confirmed To Join BBC Series As Sherlock’s Third Brother?

"Sherlock" Season 4 is about to begin filming in April 2016 and fans are even more excited for the upcoming season because of the rumored appearance of Tom Hiddleston. The 35-year-old actor is rumored to play the role of Sherlock's hypothetical third brother, Sherrinford.

"Sherlock" Season 4 casting news and updates reveal the possibility that fans and viewers will see "The Avengers" actor, Tom Hiddleston, in the upcoming season of the BBC series, reports Metro. According to the publication, series creator Mark Gatiss previously expressed his interest to see Hiddleston play a role in the show.

Gatiss, however, admitted that it would be hard to cast Hiddleston for "Sherlock" Season 4 because of the actor's busy schedule. The show's creator shared that he would be willing to go the extra mile just to cast Hiddleston for the show.

"Sherlock" Season 4 spoilers from the outlet further note on the possibility that Hiddleston will be playing the role of Sherlock's (Benedict Cumberbatch) hypothetical third brother, Sherrinford. Rumors surrounding Sherlock's third brother came out after he and Mycroft discussed about "the other one" during their conversation in Season 3.

Sherlock's third brother, however, was not mentioned in any of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels, but given that "Sherlock" Season 4 can change certain things in the books, this still remains a possibility.

Meanwhile, "Sherlock" Season 4 release date is expected to be in January 2017. Den of Geek reports that the BBC series' second and third seasons premiered after Christmas, which makes perfect sense to see series 4 be released on the same slot.

"Sherlock" Season 4 will also provide answers to the cliffhanger from Season 4, which will ultimately reveal whether Andrew Scott's character Moriarty will return to the series. Mary Watson is also rumored to die in the upcoming season after giving birth.
