Family Friend Confessed To The Rape And Murder Of 1-Year-Old Toddler; Details Shocked Family

The family of Shaylyn Ammerman, a 1-year-old toddler, who was found dead and raped in a nearby woods in Kentucky, was shocked upon finding out that a family friend was allegedly behind the crime. The father of the toddler couldn't believe how someone whom they trusted could do such a thing.

Kyle Parker, 22, a friend of Shaylyn's uncle who goes in and out of the Ammerman house, was charged with murder, rape, kidnapping, strangulation, child molesting, and aggravated battery. He was also charged with obstruction of justice for having lied to police officers when asked about the whereabouts of the toddler. Another charge he's facing is failure to report a dead body.

Fifteen-month-old Shaylyn was last seen by his father being put in her crib, according to Yahoo. The next day, they could no longer locate the toddler, which prompted them to report her disappearance to authorities.

AOL stated that according to court documents, Parker abducted the 1-year-old toddler, then raped her in nearby woods. Autopsy showed that the toddler died from asphyxiation, which resulted from Parker's smothering the girl with a cloth. To conceal the crime, he put bleach on her body, and on his own so as to eliminate DNA traces.

Parker initially wanted to pin the blame on other family members of Shaylyn. However, Parker confessed to his father about the crime, and the latter immediately called authorities saying that his son was willing to cooperate.

Dr. Donna Stewart from the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office, performed the autopsy on Shaylyn's body and said that it was "the worst case of sexual trauma she had seen in her career." The toddler's body had contusions, lacerations, and multiple injuries.

Kyle Parker was a friend of Shaylyn's uncle, Adam Ammerman. The night she disappeared, Adam invited Parker to drink at their home. They didn't know that such an act would cost them the life of Shaylyn who died brutally in the hands of Parker.
