'The Bachelor' News and Updates: Former Producer Suffered From Nervous Breakdown; Breaks Her Silence on Destroying Women

Former "The Bachelor" producer Sarah Gertrude Shapiro breaks her silence as she opens up about her experience with "The Bachelor." The ex-producer mentioned that working with "The Bachelor" was one of her worst nightmares as she developed nervous breakdown.

During her interview with Deadline, Shapiro stated that she was once an aspiring feminist with the hopes of creating a show to empower women. She came to Los Angeles with a dream of creating something that can give women a voice in the society, but her dreams were replaced with nightmare.

"I was a feminist and came out to L.A. with dreams of feminist film-making dancing in my head," Shapiro told Deadline. "I was going to make really important stuff and change."

Shapiro shared that working for "The Bachelor" turned her into someone she ought not to be. Her views on feminism changed after running nine seasons of "The Bachelor." Shapiro stated that she turned into someone that manipulates and destroys women for a living. Aside from losing her feminist touch, she also suffered from nervous breakdown.

"After having a nervous breakdown, I went to my boss and said, I'm going to kill myself," Shapiro stated during an interview.

Shapiro then decided to cut her ties with "The Bachelor" and decided to co-create and executive produce "UnReal" under Lifetime. The show's main character, Rachel Goldberg was inspired by Shapiro's experience while she was working at "The Bachelor." As per The TV Guide, despite the fact that Shapiro patterned "UnReal" from her experience while she was working for "The Bachelor," the ex-producer cleared out that the film is purely fictional.

On one of her interviews with The Hollywood Reporter, Sara Shapiro also shared how she managed to get herself back on track and quit "The Bachelor." She also shared how she managed to survive Hollywood while she was on the verge of giving up.

"I started thinking about all of the experiences that I had had, not only on 'The Bachelor' but also with David and fashion in New York because body issues and female empowerment around body issues has always been a major thing for me." Shapiro said.
