'The Winds of Winter' Release Date, News & Update: George RR Martin Hints About Jon Snow's Parents; Book Out Early Next Year

The anticipated sixth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire" remains in the dark after over four years of waiting. New reports suggest that "The Winds of Winter" will be out early next year and may include the family lineage of Jon Snow.

George RR Martin Hints About Jon Snow's Parents in "The Winds of Winter"

There are several theories about the real parents of Jon Snow, who is popularly known as Ned's bastard son. According to Angelfire, Jon Snow could be Eddard Stark and Ashara Dayne's child. There are other theories suggesting that Jon Snow is not Ned's son, but his sister's, Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. It seems that this mystery will finally be answered in "The Winds of Winter."

Jon Snow's parents are a major plot. In fact, The Sunday Morning Herald shared a video clip, featuring D.B. Weiss and David Benioff confessing that George RR Martin asked them who is Jon Snow's real mother before he agreed to allow them to develop a screen adaptation of his novel, "A Song of Ice and Fire." Luckily they guessed it right, that's why fans see "Game of Thrones" today. This issue has become a major talk while waiting for "The Winds of Winter."

Just recently, George RR Martin tweeted a hint about Jon Snow's parents. "I'll give you a little hint: Jon's parents names rhyme with "Schmobert Schmaratheon" and "Schmatelyn Schmark," he wrote. However, the post has been deleted, but you can see it here.

CrossMap guessed that Jon Snow's parents are Robert Baratheon and Catelyn Stark, but it just doesn't make sense how Catelyn hates Jon Snow so much and why Robert asked Ned who's Jon Snow's mother. Will this secret be unveiled in "The Winds of Winter?" We will soon find out.

"The Winds of Winter" Out Next Year

Parent Herald previously reported that George RR Martin is suffering from a major writer's block and that "The Winds of Winter" may be out in late 2016 or early 2017. There are rumors that the next target date for "TWOW" is before "Game of Thrones" Season 7.

What do you think, will George RR Martin finish "The Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" Season 7? Who do you think are Jon Snow's parents? Will Martin reveal this in "TWOW?" Share your thoughts below.
