Artificial Intelligence News: AI Designs A Dress For Met Gala With 'Too Much Side Boob'

Artificial intelligence or AI can do anything. This technology is not just good as a virtual assistant, it also designs. Have you ever wondered how AI would design a dress or gown? You need not wonder because a dress worn at Monday night's Met Gala in New York will answer that question.

Lisa Maria Falcone Wears AI Designed Dress In Met Gala

Lisa Maria Falcone donned a unique attire in the Met Gala last Monday. Yes, her gown was unique because it was not designed by a popular designer alone. Her gown was a product of designers in collaboration with artificial intelligence.

The AI designed dress was filled with patterned pieces, mirror, laser-cut plastic vinyl and flesh-tone organza. It looked good on Lisa Maria Falcone, but per Huffington Post, the AI designed dress had "too much side boob," which the designer said was a fatal flaw that the code did not solve.

"You can't teach modesty," designer Zaldy Goco jest per Vogue on the too much side boob issue of the AI designed dress.

AI Grasshopper Asked For One More Day To Design The Gown

According to Liza Maria Falcone, AI also has tantrums. There was a time when Grasshopper, the AI developed editor requested for one more day to finish the dress. "I need another day," the AI said, requesting for an extension. Everyone was dismayed after AI's procrastination.

However, with the use of logic, computation, generative algorithms and mathematical optimization the AI was able to comprehend what to do to finish Falcone's gown for Met Gala. The team pushed the technology to deliver what they need and this time, AI was over with its tantrum because it cooperated.

"Grasshopper exploded the dress!" Falcone said, recounting how her AI gown came to life. "But then it programmed itself to understand. It just started to remake the dress with no downtime . . . it was exciting to witness."

Working with AI enabled the team to save energy and time. In fact, using AI to design Falcone's dress saved them from a tedious process and speed it up ten folds.

The AI designed gown was a collaboration of the designers and AI. Grasshopper had a 3-D scan of Falcone's body while Goco trained the design novice on perceiving motion and depth.
