How much longer do gamers have to wait for the next installment of the classic "Half-Life" series? According to rumors and speculations, "Half-Life" fans might have two more years of waiting to do.

'Half-Life' Anniversary

The 20th anniversary of the iconic "Half-Life" series is in 2018. Fans and analysts believe that it would be a perfect time for Valve to release "Half-Life 3" due to the nostalgia among gaming fans.

However, the 20th anniversary of "Half-Life" is not the only reason for the supposed 2018 release of "Half-Life 3." According to Master Herald, one of the reasons for the 2018 release is that Valve is making "Left 4 Dead 3" its priority before "Half-Life 3."

'Left 4 Dead 3' Release

Unfortunately for the fans of both series, "Left 4 Dead 3" does not have an official announcement yet. Turtle Rock Studios -- who helped develop the previous "Left 4 Dead" games -- will no longer have any involvement in future installments of the zombie-shooter video game franchise, according to Yibada.

Virtual Reality Format

On another note, rumors about "Half-Life 3" being released in 2018 in Virtual Reality format continue to intensify among gamers and fans of the series, Master Herald reports. Many people also believe that releasing "Half-Life 3" as a Virtual Reality game can make it even more groundbreaking than the previous critically and commercially successful "Half-Life" games released in 1998 and 2004.

If "Half-Life 3" turns out to be a Virtual Reality gaming experience, then it would be the very first Virtual Reality game released by the Valve gaming company. Many fans feel like it is only appropriate for Valve to make "Half-Life 3" its very first Virtual Reality game since the previous "Half-Life" games are some of the company's most popular and iconic games all over the world.
