'Iron Man 4' Cast, News & Update: Mel Gibson To Helm The Next Film; Real Villain In 'Iron Man 3' Was A Female

There is no doubt that many love Iron Man and it seems that Robert Downey Jr. will be giving in to his fans request for an "Iron man 4." The highest-paid actor already expressed his interest in making another "Iron Man" film. According to reports, the actor has also announced whom he wants to sit in the director's chair.

Mel Gibson To Direct 'Iron Man 4'

When Robert Downey Jr. wants to do a project, he exerts efforts in realizing it. Parent Herald previously announced that the "Iron Man" star is still willing to do another "Iron Man" film and this time there are high chances that "Iron Man 4" will be hitting the big screens in time.

Robert Downey Jr. has already decided who he wants to sit in the director's chair for "Iron Man 4" suggesting that the film might soon be in production. According to "Iron Man 3" director Shane Black, the "Sherlock Holmes" star wanted Mel Gibson to helm the next film.

"I think he wants Mel Gibson to direct it," Black said per Australian Network explaining that the actor is very keen on working with Gibson for "Iron Man 4." Although Gibson would also make a great director, Marvel has not decided yet. Only time can tell, if we will see Downey Jr. and Gibson in "Iron Man 4" together.

'Iron Man 3' Has A Female Villain

Apart from revealing the potential director for "Iron Man 4," Black also disclosed that the original villain for "Iron Man 3" was a female character. Unfortunately, they think that female toys in the "Iron Man" franchise won't sell, so they decided to drop their first idea.

"There was an early draft of 'Iron Man 3' where we had an inkling of a problem. Which is that we had a female character who was the villain in the draft," Black said per We Got This Covered. "We had finished the script and we were given a no-holds-barred memo saying that cannot stand and we've changed our minds because, after consulting, we've decided that toy won't sell as well if it's a female."

Do you agree that female toys don't sell as much as male toys? Is this enough reason to change their draft for "Iron Man 3?" Do you want Mel Gibson to helm "Iron Man 4?" Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
