Although ABC has put an end to "Castle" after Season 8, the story of Kate Beckett will live on. Fans of the series can still catch up on what happens to the police detective by October -- in printed form at least.
The "Castle" book deal, which started in 2009 when the series was also just beginning, is still happening despite the TV show's cancellation. As fans of the show know, Richard Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, has had a series of actual best-selling novels and it is based on Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic. There were many episodes in the show that also tackled Nikki Heat, the protagonist in the books.
The Hollywood Reporter cites that Kingswell, the publishing company for the "Castle" books, is set to release "High Heat" on Oct. 25. This will be the eighth book in the series, which will then be followed by the ninth book, "Heat Storm," by 2017.
When the TV character released an actual book several years ago, the show's creator, Andrew Marlowe, acknowledged but did not reveal who is the real person behind the book credits. "I don't know why you're trying to take credit away from him," Marlowe humored Entertainment Weekly back in 2009 when the first book, "Heat Wave" came out. "The guy worked hard on it."
"Heat Wave" eventually became a New York Times best-selling book and the rest of the "Castle" books also topped the list. Unconfirmed stories say that author Tom Straw is its real writer, per Romancing the TV. An excerpt of the first chapter of "High Heat" has been posted on Scribd.
