Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are expected to reunite onscreen for the upcoming installment of the Disney movie, "High School Musical 4." While the next installment will feature brand new characters, rumors are rife that the former couple will be making a cameo in the upcoming film.

When Disney broke the news that "High School Musical 4" was in the works, many fans thought that the next installment will feature the original cast. However, the studio clarified that "HSM 4" will, instead, feature new characters and actors.

This has seemingly crushed all hopes to see Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron back together in front of the cameras. However, HollywoodLife.com points out that these two stars may still get a chance to reunite following subtle messages on social media.

According to the publication, the 28-year-old actor previously posted a throwback photo of his days in "High School Musical" together with Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu. The 27-year-old actress, on the other hand, appeared to have given a subtle response to the photo with another post on her social media account.

'High School Musical 4' Plot Details And Characters

Morning Ledger notes that "High School Musical 4" is expected to be set in East High with brand new characters and romance pairings. According to the publication, the film will introduce a bad boy dancer named Derek, soccer team captain Campbell and soccer player Erin.

Being that Erin is the sole female player in the soccer team, Campbell will find himself falling for the former. However, Campbell will realize that Erin has feelings for Derek.

The publication also notes that Campbell shares a connection with former "High School Musical" cast. Campbell is reportedly a cousin of Sharpay and Ryan.
