WWE Raw Recap: Rollins New WWE Champion? New General Managers for Smackdown, Raw Revealed

WWE's Monday night episode was explosive as the new General Managers for Smackdown and Raw, which will be having separate rosters, have been announced. Also, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will be taking on each other to battle it out for the WWE Championship.

Commissioners Stephanie McMahon, for Raw, and Shane McMahon, for Smackdown, chose their General Managers for the separate shows. Before the announcements were made about their general manager, Stephanie shared that Raw will be getting an exclusive Cruiserweight division. She then went on to announce that her General Manager is Mick Foley. As for Shane, his General Manager pick is Daniel Bryan. The introduction of the new General Managers lasted for around 20 minutes.

Darren Young vs. Alberto Del Rio

Last week at No. 1 contenders battle royal, Young earned an Intercontinental title shot after Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin eliminated each other. Again, Young got away with a win. Miz tried to distract him but ended up winning over Del Rio via roll up.

Cesaro and Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens

WWE went on to let Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens battle Sami Zayn and Cesaro in a tag-team match. They were paying a tribute to Teddy Long. Zayn rolled-up on Jericho to end the match.

More on Jericho, he will be having Randy Orton as his guest on the special edition of the "Highlight Reel at Battleground." This is the first outing of Orton since his injury and he is set to come back this August to battle Brock Lesnar during the SummerSlam.

12-Man Tag Match

WWE's Monday episode includes a 12-man tag team match between John Cena, Big Cass, Enzo Amore, The New Days, The Wyatt Family and The Club. It was a pretty entertaining 12-man match. The heel squad got away with a victory, which sets a more intriguing match when they meet again in "Battleground" this coming Sunday, Get More Sports reported.

Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch

Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch also took on Charlotte and Dana Brooke. Banks and Lynch were able to win the game via disqualification.

Baron Corbin vs. Sin Cara

A very short match between Baron Corbin and Sin Cara. The Lone Wolf finished Sin Cara with The End of Days. Corbin relentlessly punished Sin Cara after the match that sent Kalisto out to the rescue. Corbin momentarily withdrew then came back to attack Kalisto from behind.

Rusev and Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder

Ryder and Rusev's match in "Battleground" could be interesting, but this tag match was not. Rusev's Accolade got Ziggler to submit and won them the match.

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins

In the main event title match, Ambrose and Rollins faced each other. Whoever wins the match, the two will meet again together with Roman Reigns for a triple threat match in "Battleground." The two former Shield members went toe to toe. The wild finish resulted to Rollins pinning Ambrose.

Rollins won and Stephanie proclaimed him as the new WWE Champion. Rollins was seen ending the show with the title held up high. However, it is not certain if Rollins is really the new champion as no official announcement was made. The show ended with no definitive answer.
