Fans of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" have been waiting for the series' sixth book for five years and counting already. Unfortunately, George RR Martin hasn't announced the release date of "The Winds of Winter" yet, despite the reports that it is already done. Have you wonder what took Martin too long to finish the book? Well, according to reports, that is because the "The Winds of Winter" author is busy with TV series.

George RR Martin Distracted In TV Series While Working On 'The Winds of Winter'

"ASOIAF" fans are expecting George RR Martin to concentrate on "The Winds of Winter" but his efforts are not enough because he failed in his promise to release "TWOW" before "Game of Thrones" Season 6. So now readers are questioning Martin's effort, what did he do that until now, "The Winds of Winter" is still not available?

Well, according to AsiaStarz, George RR Martin is distracted because he is more interested in watching TV series like "Outlander" and "Penny Dreadful" than finishing "The Winds of Winter." Per the report, the "The Winds of Winter" scribe's blog says it all.

In George RR Martin's blog he posted how happy he is that HBO's "Game of Thrones" received 24 nominations. However, the "The Winds of Winter" author also expressed his disappointment for not seeing several shows on the list in particular "Outlander," "Justified," "Masters of Sex," "The Vikings," "Orange is the New Black" and more.

George RR Martin stressed that "Justified" was great. The "The Winds of Winter" writer also exclaimed, "how in the world did they overlook OUTLANDER, with its music and its costumes and its cinematography and the incredible performances of its three leads?"

GRRM Confirms Living Characters In 'The Winds of Winter'

On a side note, a fan begged George RR Martin if Stannis is alive and he confirmed that the character is alive in "The Winds of Winter." "In the books... yes, Stannis is still alive," Martin responded.

"So are Irri, Jhiqui, Mago, Pyp, Grenn, Shireen, Myrcella, Ser Barristan, Hizdahr zo Loraq, and probably some others whose names I am forgetting at this moment."

Do you believe that George RR Martin's interest in TV series causes the delay of "The Winds of Winter?" Do you agree with the "TWOW's" reaction about the Emmy nomination list? Are you happy that Stannis is alive? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

"The Winds of Winter" is expected to arrive at the end of the year or early 2017.
