'Steven Universe' Season 3 First Episodes Recap: 'Mr. Greg' Explores Painful Relationship of Pearl and Greg, 'Too Short to Ride' Features Peridot

"Steven Universe" Season 3 premiered earlier this week and it has released four episodes for the last four days. The main plot for "Mr. Greg" is about his relationship with Pearl and the latest episode, entitled "Too Short to Ride" was about Peridot.

"Mr. Greg" Recap: Pearl and Greg Have a Damaged, Painful Relationship

The Mary Sue reported that the third episode of "Steven Universe" season 3 entitled "Mr. Greg" focuses on Greg and Pearl's relationship. Greg took his son on a vacation to Empire City with his newfound fortune and Steven brings Pearl along in order for them to talk about their rift.

Greg is basically mourning the loss of his wife but he continues to be a good father to Steven by providing him what he needs and being there for him. He also is okay with living in Beach City and the quality of his life in "Steven Universe."

"Mr. Greg" was a musical and it showed the strained relationship of Greg and Pearl. One of the songs on the third episode of "Steven Universe" entitled "Don't Cost Nothin" was basically about the approach of Greg to his life. As for the number of Pearl, she sang the song "It's Over (Isn't It)" and has become the most talked about part of the episode.

Steven's number "Both of You" was overall sweet and gentle, which is a contrary to Pearl's since it was full of emotion and was dubbed as raw. The "Mr. Greg" episode of "Steven Universe" season 3 also showed how much Rose and Steven are alike such as their leading skills and the powers they both have.

'Too Short to Ride' Recap: Peridot is Back, Still Cannot Shift her Shape but Reveals she has Powers

From the title of the episode itself, it could be drawn that the fourth episode of "Steven Universe" will be about rides at a fun land. Peridot has come back and Steven gave her a tablet as a gift. She then incorporates the new gadget to her body. Amethyst comes into the scene and she and Steven invite Peridot to go to the Beach City Fun Land.

The three discover that they are too short to ride the roller coaster so Amethyst and Steven decided to shape-shift in order to reach the height requirement. The two go off and have fun while Peridot is left behind as she still cannot shape-shift. Amethyst and Steven try to pull Peridot's arms and legs but she tells them to stop. Amethyst then got serious and said that Peridot always focuses on what she cannot do instead of what she is capable of doing.

Peridot does not seem to be paying attention to Amethyst as she was fixated with her tablet. Amethyst then gets the tablet but Peridot stopped it in mid-air. That is when they realize that Peridot can control metal.

"Steven Universe" Season 3 will be having episodes that will run through August 12 on Cartoon Network.
