'Supergirl' Season 2 Air Date, Spoilers & News: Chris Wood's Mystery Casting - He's In THAT Pod! Supergirl Meets Superboy?

There will be plenty of new faces in "Supergirl" Season 2 as the show stabilizes in its new home on The CW. Apart from casting former iconic Wonder Woman Lynda Carter as the president and adding Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, the show has also enlisted Ian Gomez as editor Snapper Carr and Floriana Lima as the lesbian cop Maggie Sawyer.

However, one casting has become a mystery for fans because producers of "Supergirl" Season 2 aren't revealing the details. TV Line reports that Chris Wood from "The Vampire Diaries" is up for a "surprise" series regular spot. His addition is definitely fueling a lot of speculations.

'Supergirl' Season 2: Chris Wood Is Nick Farrow?

Back in June, it was announced that "Supergirl" Season 2 would be adding three new regulars to the cast to play Snapper Carr, Maggie Sawyer and Nick Farrow, per Parent Herald. Actors who will play Snapper Carr and Maggie Sawyer have already been named, but Nick Farrow's casting has remained undisclosed.

Nick Farrow is supposed to be a news reporter who will work closely with Supergirl's alter-ego Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoit) on Cat Media. It should be noted that the character is especially created for the TV show and is not in any of the DC comic series "Supergirl" is based on. Curious Reddit members believe Nick Farrow is a fake name that is meant to be used only for the auditions.

'Supergirl' Season 2: Chris Wood Is Green Lantern?

TV Guide reports that Chris Wood's addition is for a "surprise DC Character" and immediately, speculations have been running wild about the actor playing Batman for television. However, The CW cannot cast Batman into their shows as Fox owns this deal with its DC show "Gotham," per Bleeding Cool.

One other speculation is that Chris Wood could be Green Lantern, a.k.a. Hal Jordan, on "Supergirl" Season 2, which The CW has apparently been wanting to develop. Movie Pilot cites that this would make sense since the character is intergalactic and "Supergirl" has its shares of aliens already.

'Supergirl' Season 2: Chris Wood Is In That Pod!

At the end of "Supergirl" Season 1, she discovers a pod and gasped when she opened this, without the viewers ever knowing what was inside it. The pod would be dealt with in the second season of the series and with Chris Wood's mysterious casting, the theory is that he's the guy inside the pod.

Speculations are that "Supegirl" Season 2 will be adding the Superboy/Connor Kent storyline from the DC Comics since the writers are also going to touch on Project Cadmus. Superboy is Superman's clone, per DC Comics. He was engineered by Project Cadmus. Learn more about the character in the video below.
