Google Nexus 2016 Marlin & Sailfish Specs & News: First Real Image Leaked?

Google is set to release two Nexus phones this year, currently codenamed Marlin and Sailfish. While the company has not officially released any information, there are several rumors and leaks in the news. Expectations are high for the new release given that its predecessors had high-end hardware and amazing designs.

First Real Image of Nexus 2016 Leaked

The allegedly first image of the upcoming Nexus flagship phones was posted by Techdroider. The image is a prototype of the Google Nexus 2016 and shows only the screen of the device. It reveals that it is running the next Android operating system, which is currently called Android N.

According to rumors, as reported by BGR, HTC Marlin will be a high-end tablet. It will have a display of 5.5-inch 2K AMOLED and will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. It has 4GB of RAM and an option of 32GB and 128GB memory. Its rear camera will have 12 megapixels resolution and its front camera will have an 8 megapixels resolution. It will also use a 3,450mAh battery and will feature a rear fingerprint sensor and a headphone jack.

Meanwhile, according to Androidheadlines.com, HTC Sailfish will have a 5-inch display with Full HD resolution. It is reportedly going to feature the new USB Type C. It is going to have a 12MP front camera and an 8MP rear camera like the Marlin, so consumers will get to have the same experience regardless of which model they choose. Sailfish's battery though is smaller at only 2,770mAh, and its memory will be 32GB.

There's not much information from the grapevine as to when the Google Nexus 2016 will be released, but they are said to come out later this year. Google has recently released the fifth and reportedly the final developer preview of Android 7.0 Nougat and Nexus always gets to be the first to use the latest Android OS.
