Defining Intelligence in the Modern World: IQ Tests Become Obsolete

Many cultures reject the integrity of IQ tests to measure one's intelligence. Apparently, people have different levels of thinking and IQ tests are not always efficient. High IQ test scores do not necessarily mean that a child or a person is intelligent more than others. However, such scores can possibly indicate that the individual who took the exam will attain academic achievement, economic success, and even better health.

IQ test is not anymore the standard as per the study was done at the University of Warwick. The study, as reported by Science Daily, is summarized as: "Human intelligence is being defined and measured for the first time ever. It turns out that the more variable a brain is, and the more its different parts frequently connect with each other, the higher a person's IQ and creativity are."

Each element of the brain interact with another and how the brain's dynamic functions go has lead the researchers at the University of Warwick to come up with a more practical way of measuring intelligence. The team also believes that as the study progresses, the more intensive is the understanding of human intelligence would be and it is expected to result to future developments in artificial intelligence (AI) along with great innovations in the arena of mental health.

At some points, people may question if intelligence is really something that is measurable. Scientists are actually perplexed by the same question. IQ tests usually helped determine whether kids are so intelligent that they get bored or if they have cognitive deficits that call for special attention. For the past decades, the traditional IQ tests define a genius, an average thinker, and so forth. But we have to expect in the later years a more modernized way of defining intelligence which do not just operate as a measuring device but actually has greater help for some medical needs, particularly mental health, around the world.
