Apple Watch 2 Release Date: Major Overhaul? Thinner Smartwatch Teased

Will the Apple Watch 2 release date be an event tech junkies shouldn't miss? New reports are now claiming that Apple's second-gen smartwatch is getting a major aesthetic upgrade.

According to Yahoo, Apple is looking at releasing a thinner Apple Watch 2. The Cupertino based tech giant is reportedly eyeing to utilize a One Glass Solution (OGS) for its display. The current models have a Glass on Glass solution that somehow makes the device thicker.

Apart from a thinner Apple Watch, sources are also teasing an improved battery life for the Apple Watch 2. As reports claimed, Apple is looking at using Micro LED technology to replace its current OLED display. This will allegedly provide a richer color display while prolonging battery life.

Sources are optimistic that the Apple Watch 2 release date could actually be a good step for Apple's sales. According to Wareable, prior to the Apple Watch 2 release date, Apple has suffered a sharp decline in sales with the IDC claiming a 55% drop compared to last year. Apple has sold a total of 3.6M Apple Watches in Q2 of 2015 as compared with a measly 1.6M units in Q2 of 2016.

Industry insiders are speculating that this decline could have something to do with the Apple Watch 2 release date. As the site pointed out, tech junkies have been anticipating a launch announcement since April, but the tech giant has yet to confirm any unveiling of the Apple Watch 2 just yet.
