'The Defenders' Season 1 Air Date, Cast News & Update: Another Marvel Character Is Joining The Series

There's plenty to look forward to on "The Defenders" on Netflix. The series, which sets its debut in 2017 on the streaming site, rounds up Marvel's street-level heroes in a way that makes for great entertainment on the small screen.

But while "The Defenders" is largely made up of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the Iron Fist, it will also have one more familiar Marvel character from Netflix. Foggy Nelson, who is played by Elden Henson from the "Daredevil" series, is reportedly going to be in "The Defenders" as well, and he's not just going to breeze through the upcoming show.

Elden Henson talked to fans about Foggy Nelson, "Daredevil" and "The Defenders" during the recent Comic Con in San Diego. The actor confirmed that he was already approached by Marvel to bring Foggy Nelson to "The Defenders," but the details are still kept under wraps, per A Foggy Nelson Appreciation.

However, Collider suggests Foggy Nelson's participation in "The Defenders" might be a sizeable role and not merely a cameo to tie the show to "Daredevil." Besides, the appearance shouldn't pose a big problem since both "The Defenders" and "Daredevil" are handled by the same production team, per Marvel. Its writers can seamlessly connect both worlds, characters and stories together.

Foggy Nelson is the second Marvel supporting character who has been confirmed as included in "The Defenders." Early on, it was announced that Eka Darville, who plays Malcom in "Jessica Jones" will also be in the show, per Screen Rant. Somehow, their participation actually makes a lot of sense since "The Defenders" takes place in Hell's Kitchen, which is the small New York neighborhood where Netflix TV heroes thrive.

"The Defenders" on Netflix stars Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist). All actors and their characters have solo series on the streaming sites. "Daredevil" Season 1 and 2 and "Jessica Jones" Season 1 are ready for streaming, while "Luke Cage" Season 1 debuts in September. "Iron Fist" is also expected to be released before "The Defenders" gets its screen time.
