PS4 Neo Release Date: $399 Price Hinted; Console All Set for October Launch?

 With no official announcement as of writing, fans are on the look out for PS4 Neo release date updates. While a lot of fans are predicting that the improved Sony console will drop by September-October, others are already speculating on the price of the new device.

In a Reddit forum, fans started to throw wild guesses at Sony's pricing strategy for the PS4 Neo. Fans have speculated that Sony will also release a slimmer version of the PS4 apart from the Neo.

"So the Neo, 4K PS4 is rumored for an October release this year," user Bonesawisready5 commented. "Maybe they'll announce it around Gamescom in their own event or PR, maybe at TGS, maybe some random fucking day. But it looks like its a lock for this year.:

"I think they will do this: PS4 Neo 2TB with UHD BR @399, OG PS4 or Slim PS4 Standard 500GB without UHD BR @299."

"Now, I think it would be better if OG PS4 went to $199 while Neo was $399. Take a bit of a loss on OG system for families and budget consumers but then make bank on the Neo buyers. I can't imagine Neo costs that much more than OG PS4 to make since its just raising Jaguar clock, adding a bit of RAM bandwidth and UHD potentially."

Meanwhile, in a CNBC interview with GameStop CEO Paul Raines, some fans mistakenly took one of his replies as a possible confirmation for the PS4 Neo release date. Not long after his interview, the company's PR team quickly rectified the situation.

"Yes, there will be a new Nintendo console launch in March 2017," Raines said, as Gamespresso reported "But remember, there are two different form factors: a PS4 Neo and an Xbox One new slim version. So there will be some activity and upgrades, along with the VR."

GameStop's PR team quickly released a statement after claiming that "Paul did not say that Xbox One S and PlayStation Neo hardware units would be coming for the holidays. The anchor was the one who referenced the holiday period."
